So, it is obvious that before migrating to Microsoft Windows 7, any IT professional will want to examine its application compatibility and it is not easy to check compatibility of each and every software.

Microsoft has made this a lot easier for IT professionals by launching the Windows 7 Application Compatibility List. This Application Compatibility List has information about more than 5,500 programs which are compatible with Microsoft Windows 7.

This application compatibility list shows compatibility status for both 32- and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows 7 and major/minor version numbers, company name, URL, the date the statuses were updated for each application. This compatibility list is available for download and is free.

If you find any application that is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 and is not in this application list then there are a number of ways to solve this issue. You can run that software in Windows 7's XP Mode. XP mode will allow you to run your existing applications on a Windows 7 system. This XP mode has a pre-loaded virtual hard drive and is licensed with Windows XP Service Pack 3.
